New York at Christmas!

It has always been a dream of mine to go to New York City at Christmastime.  It has always seemed so dreamy to me- the lights, the tree, walking the bustling streets with a coffee in hand, soaking in the sights and the sounds of Christmas in a big city.  So this year we made it happen.  We got a little getaway to New York for a few days, and it did not disappoint.  We stayed close to the Rockefeller tree and mostly just walked around enjoying being in the city.  We got to see a couple of shows, ate some wonderful food, and had quality time together.

I think there is something so unique about the pace and atmosphere of NYC.  For example, Jake doesn't love big crowds and certainly doesn't move at a fast paced, but he loves being in Times Square in New York, possibly one of the busiest and fast moving places in the US.  It's just different here.  We love it.

Giant Christmas lights near our hotel that we frequently walked past.

The windows at Saks Fifth Avenue were incredible.  For some reason, I chose to take a picture at one of the more creepy displays, but trust me when I say they were incredible....for the most part.

We loved our dinners here.  Our favorite was Rosemary's, which was in the West Village and decorated AMAZING for Christmas...the lights, the greenery, everything was so beautiful, right out of a movie.  And the desserts weren't so bad either.

What a fun surprise to find that our friend Martha, who lives in DC, was visiting New York the same weekend as us and we got to catch up for a bit.  It was such a treat to see her!

Outside one of our dinner restaurants.

The light shows on the buildings were fantastic.

We found an amazing pastry place that boasts the best Eclairs in the city.  It was so so good.  We only wish we discovered it day one so we could enjoy it every day!

Macy's store at Christmas is just what you would imagine.  It was so fun to walk around in here.

We had such a good time and I am so glad we got to experience this beautiful place and my favorite time of year.  So grateful for the experience!
