One of the greatest things about the holidays is that we get Dad home for a week. It's so fun to have him around all day. My grandmother gave the kids a popcorn popper for Christmas so we tried it out.
We also tried out what Oklahoma City has to offer around the holidays. Snow tubing and a mini train ride one day.
Dad loves to play hard with the kids, but sometimes he needs to rest...and the kids may just find his phone and capitalize on the moment.
For the past several years, we have had a New Year's Eve date with our dear friends the Waggoners. We get sitters and have an adults only fancy dinner together and we look forward to it every year...but this year we switched it up a bit. They had a new babe and we thought it would be fun to celebrate with our families...so we had a big countdown and celebration early with the kids, then we put the kids down, and we stayed up late making a nice steak dinner at home for the adults. We finished dinner right before the ball dropped at midnight. It was so fun and something new to try, but we all agreed a big steak dinner at midnight wasn't the best idea for our stomachs! Oh well, creating memories!
