May is always a busy month, but filled with so much fun!
Anniston and her dear friend Caris catching Crawdads at her school party. Dad looks forward to taking her on this trip every year.
For our anniversary we tried out a new place in Norman, the Baked Bear...delicious brownie sandwich with ice cream in between. Just a quick getaway on our actual day because we had a longer getaway planned the next week!
"Look Mom! We switched clothes!!"
I hope they want to dress alike for many more years to come.
Our kids love having their faces painted.
Date with Dad for sno cones!
This guy had his first year of swim lessons. He was so excited to go. The teacher said he was fearless...so much so that we would just float in the water, making no effort to get to the side. He wasn't scared, he was content to just be in the water...not exactly safe, but that's our boy! So brave!
Anniston danced so beautifully at her recital. I love watching her dance so much. She is so brave up there on the big stage. We were so excited to have so much family come to support Anniston- Nana, Pops, Gigi, Rara, Sherry, and even Nana Great was able to join us this year all the way from Fort Smith! What a treat!!
Just hanging out at Mcalister's, the kids favorite restaurant. Jake and I admittedly get tired of this place because it's pretty much the only place we take the kids...but they love it...and kids meals are only $0.99 each, which is a bonus!!
Sibling love.
A fun end of school year church event for the kids...they threw this powdered paint all over each other. Although someone didn't warn me this stuff stains your clothes forever so they should wear stuff that can get ruined. Oops. Worth the fun I guess!
Last day of school celebration- picking out treats at the gas station.
Last day of school as a Gingerbread Giant. Loving the beach day with Caris!
We got to play with Anna Kate one day and we decided to take an adventure to the store!
Napping with Nana
For the second year in a row, Jake and I took a little getaway to Buena Vista to celebrate our anniversary. I love this time so much- a long car ride together to talk, long meals where we can linger, little day hikes....just so much fun. It was a little chilly this year, even snowed a bit. This is us at the Hot Springs- Jake in the water and me bundled up in a fleece watching him. I didn't mind though, I got to relax and read for hours, it was heavenly.
One of the hikes we took together. I love being in the mountains with my man!
Love this girl. She loves her accessories. Always putting on bows, headbands, sunglasses, jewelry...
A fun trip to the zoo with me and the kiddos.
We watched the elephant show. Anniston tried to volunteer to go up there and work with the elephants but wasn't selected. I was so proud of how brave she was to try!
Tiger stripes. Almost everyday around here. I had a friend ask me one time what I do to discipline my kids when they do this, and I responded "nothing. It's a battle I don't fight". We all have to pick our battles, and washable marker on their bodies isn't one I choose. Needless to say I have lots of pictures like this.
Lita and his boy.
I always want to remember how much they loved each other at this age, how well they played together, and how kind and generous they are with each other.
Just another day with kids. I wonder if I will miss this room looking like this when they get older. Probably not.
Benton and his buddy Shep.
I am so grateful to have a job that lets me work from home just a few hours a week. Every so often I have to go into the office. This day was the first time in many months I went in to work, and right before I walked in, I spilled coffee all over myself...in my white blouse. So much for a good impression!
