For the second year in a row, we loaded up and drove East to Hilton Head, South Carolina for a week in April. Jake had a continuing education conference and the rest of us tagged along. We love the break mid-Spring to regroup as a family and get some quality time together. It's also a nice break for Jake after the busy Winter at work. This trip was extra special because it started on Easter Sunday so we got to spend Easter together at the beach- had an Easter egg hunt and some worship time- and even got to surprise the kids with news- they were getting a new baby brother or sister!!
I always try to bring activities and little surprises and gifts for the car ride. The kids do awesome in the car, but it's still a really long way.
Anniston showing off her new toy and new hair wrap she got at the beach.
One day we took the car to a new beach area looking for crabs. We didn't find any but had a good time looking and getting our feet dirty. It's so fun to watch them run and around and explore their surroundings.
Their highlight of this adventure was when Dad got stuck in the mud and started sinking. Luckily he was the only one!
We had a pool a short walk from our house. The kids had fun swimming every day.
The beach was a short wagon ride away too. We loved going to the beach everyday. The water was too cold for swimming, but we had fun in the sand.
We of course made it to town one night for treats and ice cream.
And popcorn and movie one night.
Our favorite thing about the house we stayed in this year was the screened-in porch. We ate most of our meals out there and it was so much fun. This picture was taken at breakfast- I was sick and tired for most of the trip since I was pregnant, and Jake was gone every morning for class, so this was my attempt at making breakfast this day...popcorn and watermelon.
