Hawaii

This year is our ten year anniversary!  I have always wanted to go to Hawaii and so this was my top choice to celebrate.  It turned out that there was a Pediatric medical conference in Maui this year, so we decided to use the opportunity to go to Hawaii and make it a anniversary/work trip.  We had such a good time!  Jake was skeptical of Hawaii- he thought it was going to be just another beach, only more expensive and further away.  Within the first 30 minutes of the trip, he was already planning our family vacations to Hawaii.  He was won over pretty easily.  We had the first two days to ourselves, so we decided to do the road to Hana first.  We drove straight to the end and did the stops on the way back, which I definitely recommend.  That way it wasn't too late and we weren't too tired trying to make it back.  We enjoyed it!  The next day we did snorkeling but it wasn't our favorite.  We didn't get to see much while snorkeling, although we did see whales, which was really cool.  It was fun to be there during whale season.  Jake did get to try Snuba so that was a fun new experience.  The rest of the trip Jake had classes until lunch time, so I would walk to get some breakfast and then head out to lay near the beach, stare at the ocean, and read for the morning.  It was lovely.  I haven't had this much alone time in who knows how long.  I really enjoyed the peaceful beautiful time.  Then we would eat lunch, usually do more laying around near beautiful scenery and then eat dinner and head back to the room.  It was laid back but wonderful time together.

Enjoying my view and my books.

Beautiful sunset one night at dinner

This was my favorite dinner- Lahaina Grill.  It was delicious.  We had a dessert sampler for dessert, which had four desserts...definitely my kind of place!

 Coming home from another dinner

The view from our room.  Not too shabby.

This was our last lunch before we left.  We ate at Mama's Fish House, which was delicious, and the views were amazing!

Hawaii you did not disappoint.
