We loved our trip to Buena Vista, Colorado last year so much that we decided to go back this year to the same place and stay in the same house. We invited our families to come and were so grateful that Gigi, Papa, Uncle Joel, Nana, and Pops were all able to make the trip! We had such a good time with family.
I have to admit I was a little bit nervous about the road trip with a three year old, one year old, and newborn. But man was I prepared. I had gifts for them to unwrap nearly every hour, I had games, snacks, and tons of entertainment...and the kids were rock stars! They did awesome! This is us as we headed out of Norman and off to Colorado!
This guy was pumped because he got to have his car seat turned around for the first time! Big treat!
So happy to have arrived at our little home in Buena Vista for a week!
The first morning the five of us went on a little hike around Chalk Lake. It was so fun to remember coming here a year ago.
One afternoon while Ben and Eiley napped, I sat in our little house and journaled and read and watched my baby sleep. Such a dreamy afternoon.
One morning we went out to Twin Lakes and the kids played on the beach. It was so fun! This is Anniston after being buried in the sand.
Nana and Pops brought a little French Toast snack the kids loved. Pops held Eiley in the shade while Nana fed Ben.
Anniston with the guys who buried her in the sand.
Gigi rocking the kids in her awesome hammock on her porch.
Movie night with just our little family.
My mom loves this song.
Little siblings enjoying the hammock together.
He's always loving on her. Such a sweet brother.
Gigi's front porch was awesome. We would sit out there at night and watch the storms roll in!
On our last morning we went on a bigger hike with just the big kids. It was a little rough for mom, trying to hike after having a baby five weeks earlier in shoes that were giving her large blisters...but when the hills leveled off and the scenery opened up, it was amazing. Loved the beautiful scenery and the adventure with my family!
Anniston had a favorite book while she was there, Freddie's Spaghetti, that everyone read to her for a total of probably 100 times...at least. Once she had it memorized, she could read it to Eiley.
"The Blue House" as we called it
One day Pops treated the kids, Jake, and Joel to an ATV adventure. So fun!
The adventure that I unfortunately have no photos of is the white water rafting trip that Jake, Joel, and the dads went on. They had a blast...even though Pops and Papa ended up in the water! Oops!
We loved our time in Colorado. We loved our walks, our hikes, our ice cream stops where we would play, throw bean bags, swing, hammer nails into stumps, and we loved just being outside in the beautiful weather. So thankful for a great week in the mountains with family!
